Post-Journal to print TRC edition October 23

Selling papersIt worked so well last year that we’re doing it again in 2009.

On Friday, October 23, The Post-Journal will publish a special edition focusing on The Resource Center, and volunteers will fan out across the area to sell papers at local businesses and on street corners.

The P-J is undertaking this effort as its contribution to national “Make a Difference Day.” The inaugural effort last year raised $1,100 for TRC’s services for children and youth. TRC was chosen as the beneficiary of The Post-Journal’s Make a Difference Day event thanks to Julie McCarthy. Julie, The P-J’s Newspaper Sales Coordinator, has a son with autism and participates in TRC’s Parents for Parents support group. So when the newspaper was trying to decide which charitable organization to support, Julie suggested TRC.

Last year’s newspaper sale was a success thanks to the efforts of The Post-Journal and a number of parents, community members, and TRC staff and service recipients, who volunteered their time to sell the papers.
